Cutting, grinding, honing, EDM — the fluids a machine shop runs on.
Tell us the operation, the metal and the fluid you use today. We match the fluid and send the data sheet with the quote. Retail-pack samples are free, so you can test on your own machines.

Find the operation. The fluid follows.
Which fluid works depends on the operation, the metal and the machine. Find your job below and you know what to ask for. The machine builder's recommendation always governs.
| Operation | What the machine usually calls for | MOTTA product | Packs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turning, milling and drillingSteel and cast iron, central systems | Water-dilutable fluidISO 6743-7 | C Series water-dilutable fluid →Six grades, C410 to C460 | 18L · 200L |
| Grinding | Water-dilutable fluidMixed at the ratio on the data sheet | C Series water-dilutable fluid →Tell us the wheel and the metal | 18L · 200L |
| Tapping, broaching and gear cuttingHeavy cuts, machines built for oil | Neat cutting oilISO 6743-7, viscosity 10 to 46 | M600 and M800 neat cutting oil →M800 chlorine-free active | 18L · 200L |
| Copper, brass and other yellow metals | Non-staining neat oilChlorine-free | M500 neat cutting oil →Chlorine-free, copper-safe | 18L · 200L |
| Honing cylinder bores and precision parts | Low-viscosity honing oil | H6 honing oil →Mineral, non-staining | 18L · 200L |
| Sinker EDM | Hydrocarbon dielectric fluid | E100 EDM fluid →Light and Heavy variants | 18L · 200L |
These are the requirements these operations commonly carry. The machine builder's recommendation governs — tell us the machine, the metal and your water, and we match it.
Three steps to the right fluid.
Tell us the job
The operation, the metals, and whether the machine runs water-based fluid or neat oil today.
Tell us the problems
Short tool life, rust on parts, foam, smell, skin complaints — this is what tells us which grade to send.
Test it on your machines
Retail-pack samples are free. You get the grade, the data sheet, the handling handbook and a price.
Four series for machine shops.
The same machine shop usually also needs
Four things machine shops ask most.
Our coolant smells and foams. Is it the fluid?
Usually it is how the sump is run: concentration drifting, tramp oil from slideways, or bacteria. Check the concentration with a refractometer and skim the tramp oil first. Our C Series handbook covers sump care step by step.
Water-dilutable fluid or neat oil?
Water-dilutable fluids cool better and suit most general machining. Neat oil lubricates better for tapping, broaching and gear cutting. The machine must be built for the fluid type — do not switch without checking.
Can one fluid run steel and aluminium?
Often, but not always: some grades can stain aluminium or copper. Tell us the metals and your water hardness, and test a free sample on real parts before you change the whole shop.
Do you have documents for audits?
Every product has a technical data sheet, and every series has an operation and handling handbook. The SDS comes with your quote.
